Letter from the Chairman

Dear contributors and friends, I'm pleased to inform you that the Entrepreneurial Training Foundation (EDF) was officially registered in late 1999. Since we last corresponded, we have developed EDF's business plan and established its priorities. An executive board was formed upon incorporation and was lately joined by reputable businessmen with philanthropic inclinations, as members. We are selectively looking to add more members, particularly accomplished women.

The year 2000 business plan was carefully prepared to meet the requirements of the youth in rural areas, where socio-economic development is much needed. The first training program was actually recently started in the Western Beqaa-Rashaya region, with a lot of enthusiasm. Contacts with various local and international NGO's was initiated in order to introduce and promote the foundation's mission, establish the basis for cooperation with such foundations as well as seek financial support for our programs.

As you know, our aspirations at EDF are to develop successful entrepreneurs in Lebanon, to start, then grow this capability regionally for the betterment of the youth and their future prospects in the Arab World. This newsletter will be published quarterly to inform you of the relevant developments and progress made by the foundation. To this effect, you're constructive feedback would be welcomed to introduce improvements to its contents. EDF was created for the betterment of our future generations and it would not have been possible without both your moral and financial support, which you are to be admired for.

Thank you again and may we collectively succeed in this humanitarian endeavor.

With kind regards,

Nabil G. Sawabini
Chairman
